Operational Safety Regulation
As of September 2002, the Operational Safety Regulation is valid in Germany, which controls the commencement of a variety of European directives and defines due transitional deadlines. For operators of glass facilities, the following data are important:
Facilities with monitoring need
Duly listed for the first time in the Operational Safety Regulation since 2003 |
Repeat inspection by 2005-31-12 |
Special conditions apply for glass facilities:
Supplement 5, Operational Safety Regulation 16 (BertSichV 16) Pressured Devices made of Glass
(1) Repeat inspection is waivered for pressured devices made of glass, with exemption to test autoclaves in accordance with no. 19. If aggressive agents stress the equipment, measurement of wall thickness must be performed by skilled personnel within time durations that are accordingly specified contingent to operational stress conditions.
(2) An inspection on sealing function must be performed by skilled personnel to pressured devices made of glass prior to initial start-up.
For this, see “QVF Facility Check”.
Facilities in areas rated EX
Duly listed prior to October 2003 |
Repeat inspection by 2005-12-31 |
QVF has developed an extensive conception for glass facilities in areas rated EX, which meets the requirements of ATEX and BGR132. This is interesting for existing facilities that especially need refit of non-conform agitators as specified by ATEX.
For this, see “Upgrade of ATEX Agitators”.
