QVF agitators that are conform to ATEX for the categories 2 and 3 are available, which employ dual-action or dry-operating rotating mechanical seals. Customized solutions are easily made possible due to the modular design, which also encompasses the certificates of single equipment groups. Both types can be supplied for the category 1. Agitator drives, which are conforming to ATEX, are featured in the QVF product range .
Refit of an Agitator Drive with a Single-Action Rotating Mechanical Seal
The new aggregate devices receive the suffix “SAT”, e.g. RAL80/055/SAT. A single-action rotating mechanical seal for the material pair ceramic/graphite and a temperature sensor is built into the slide plate next to a certified geared motor, as compared to the equipment types that are non-conform to ATEX.
Our upgrade offer delivers conformity to your non-conform ATEX agitator drive.
Advantage: PTFE agitators and flange bearings may be further deployed!!
 |
- Drives that do not have certification must be refitted. A post-mortem ATEX certification is not possible for equipment types that have already been put into operation. The drives of the type RAL and RALA employ different gear motors due to different torque loads in low turning ranges.
- The existing rotating mechanical seal and the counter plate are exchanged against the certified material combination ceramic/graphite and the temperature sensor. The user must process the PT100 signal to a MAX alarm system.
The bearings are newly refitted in the flange-type bearing (life durability 40,000 hours) in the course of the upgrade.
- The agitator, the shaft ends, and the sleeve coupling are pinned together in order to protect the agitator against roll and friction heating. This job is only to be performed at QVF’s location due to the necessary drill jig needed.
- The observation window glass must be exchanged against one that is resistant against blows.

Note
The equipment receives a new article number and the necessary documentation upon refit of your agitator drive at QVF.
If the flange bearing already displays strong corrosion or if it displays other damages, we recommend the exchange of the whole drive, yet still deploying the existing agitator.
