From 4th to 6th of October QVF exhibited high performance heat exchanger at WTT-expo, a heat exchanger exhibition in Karlsruhe. Especially the CORE-THERM type with it’s working pressure of up to 10 bar showed the wide field of applications for QVF heat exchanger technology. Beneath well known coil type heat exchangers from borosilicate glass for chemical production, the double tube-plate for GMP use and the safety single tube sealing was highlighted on the booth.

The tube and shell type heat exchanger with SiC tubes and glass shell was accepted a alternative compared with graphite heat exchangers. Even if the thermal conductivity of SiC (125 W/mK) is in the same range of graphite, the necessary wall thickness regarding mechanical strength is only 1.5 mm. Therefore the SiC/glass heat exchanger has a very high heat transfer coefficient, small heat transfer areas and can be assembled in difficult installations because of it’s low weight.
